I am a NPLQ qualified lifegard (National pool lifegard qualification).

The course consists of 38 hours traning this includes pratical and theory.

At the end of the training there will be a test were you have to anser some questions and show your lifesaving skills.

To be a lifegard you have to be well motavated. Phisicaly fit is an extra but it does help, and most of all be commited to keeping people safe.

Various types of uniform for lifeguards, as you can see the main theme is red. This is so that we stand out so that in the event of an emergence we can be spotted in a hurry.
This is basicly a peice of foam in a protective bag. It is called a torpedo buoy. It can be used like most rescue equipment in doors or out.

A throw bag used to save casualtys at long distances away. The lifesaver will hold on to one of the handles and throw the bag out. Then the casulty should hold the other end of the rope.

The rope will rlease and the lifsaver can pull the casulty to safety.
A first aid kit inside will be bandages and other usfull things.

A space blanket will also be included this is used to keep casualtys warm once they have been rescued.
